Iris CE Build
Keebio’s Iris CE
The Iris CE (Compact Edition) is a low-profile split keyboard designed by Keebio. It has a staggered column layout with six columns and four rows arranged with choc spacing. This differs from the traditional keyboard which is row staggered such as the QK65. Aligning the columns supposedly promotes better ergonomics, however I have yet to notice a difference due to this. I find the extra ergonomics this keyboard has to offer comes from being a split keyboard. As of writing, I can type roughly 8% faster on this keyboard than my QK65 with much less fatigue (120wpm -> 130wpm). The Iris CE is also low-profile and only supports Kailh Choc V1 switches. Low profile switches are different from the typical MX style switches from their lower travel distance and keycap compatibility. Finally, the Iris CE is powered by QMK which allows for compiling and flashing very personalized customization.

This keymap is mostly resembles my keymap for the QK65. The main additions is the symbols layer to accommodate for the fewer keys. I also have Simultaneous Opposing Cardinal Directions (SOCD) filtering enabled on my Vim keys (hjkl) for slightly quicker navigation.
